Etab is one of the pioneer female artists of Syria. In spite of pressure from her family and society, she never gave up her dream to be an artist. Her first individual watercolor art show was in 1985, and she subsequently participated in several national and international exhibitions. She has won awards in a number of countries including Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt. Etab's watercolor paintings are created entirely from the memories of traveling with her family as a young girl. She lost her son during the war in Syria, but she still has hope and still paints. Like many other Syrians currently living in the United States, she hopes to become a naturalized citizen so that she can travel again to see her relatives who live in Turkey and the UAE.
