Nas Nouilati

Nas came to the United States in 2009.  Unable to return to Syria, he expresses the multi-sided conflict, that has haunted him in his art. The wrenching experience of being "torn in two" is present in his artwork. In one of his most recent drawings “Begging”,  the joy and mischief of childhood is overshadowed by ruined buildings. Other pieces testify to more nightmarish dreams. Yet there is hope in the swirling patterns and colors; a surreal reaching out to a world beyond our tears.

Nas has had a career in sales and business development for many years. When the war in Syria began, Nas started focusing on promoting sales of Syrian Artists who lack access to markets and language skills. He now exhibits artwork of a number of Syrian artists including his own.  He believes in the appeal to hearts and minds through art.
